The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks found themselves with a couple of all-district selections at utility.
Dylan Wertz was the first team utility player for the team. Wertz hit .400 on the year, with a home run and 11 doubles.
Wertz said his .400 average is thanks in part to his goal to just get on base no matter how it happened.
“I tried to get on base, I would take base on balls on anything, but the main thing was make sure I didn’t strike out, even if I just put the bat out there and made a little contact,” Wertz said. “That always worked to help get RBI’s. That’s the main thing I worked on, I didn’t worry about stats, and that helped me a lot.”
Kyle Mullet was selected to the second team all-district for utility as well. Mullet had a .319 average on the year and a 3-2 pitching record.
