Southeast Iowa Could See Rainfall from Hurricane Isaac
Posted By News On @ 6:30 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
Now that Hurricane Isaac has made landfall in Louisiana, local weather experts say southeast Iowa could see some benefit from the storm. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says once in a while, Iowa will see a good amount rainfall from the remnants of hurricanes with the southeast part of the state having the better chances of seeing that rain.
He says on average, every two to three years Iowa will see remnants from hurricanes the last time occurring in September 2008.
Hillaker adds if forecast models hold, we could receive up to an inch of rain from Isaac, but since the storm is not expected to be near our area until the weekend, the amount could change.
