Residents of Kalona will have a chance to see their hometown spotlighted on public television. Iowa Public Television’s Dan Kaercher visited Kalona in mid-July to film an episode of Iowa’s Simple Pleasures.

According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, they visited local businesses and the Kalona Historical Society with the focal point being the Amish quilts. They also went on a Kalona byways tour, stopping at an Amish bakery, general store and a local wood working shop. Schlabaugh adds the episode will air around Memorial Day next year.
