Posted: August 31, 2012 @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News
A blood drive held at Iowa Mennonite School yesterday exceeded expectations. According to Bonnie Smith, with IMS’s Compassion Group, they had set a goal for this Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Drive to collect 25 units of blood, which they surpassed by receiving 30.
She adds 20 IMS students volunteered to help with the blood drive held in the schools gym.
Smith shares next week the Compassion Group will be holding a “Ditch the Dress Code Day”, where students pay a dollar to wear street clothes, with the money benefiting the charities the Compassion Group supports.
Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center provides blood for 85 hospitals across four states including Hospitals in Washington, Jefferson, Henry and Keokuk Counties.
