The Washington School District is ready to change way high school students will be learning this school year. Jeff Brock, Technology Director says over the summer, ten pallets with a total of 575 computers were received as part of the district’s one on one learning initiative. He says the process started last year and they have been working with Apple on getting the base software installed.
Brock notes programs to the computers will be added as students start school and check them out. The computers will be allowed to be taken home only if students have the proper forms signed.
Students starting in ninth grade this year will have the same computer throughout their entire high school career. Students in 11th and 12th grades will be given their computers tonight from 6:00-8:30 followed by 9th and 10th graders tomorrow night. The cost for the computers was 700-thousand dollars.
