While the drought has had an effect on area crops, the same affect has not happened on local gardens.  Washington Farmer’s Market Master Bob Shepherd says while produce was slow appearing at first, growers found ways to nurture the items in their gardens.  He notes the sweet corn season was shorter than normal.

Shepherd says crops that grow on vines are growing well and are starting to turn color early.  He says barring really cold weather, the Farmer’s Markets will run through the month of October.
