Superintendent Talks About One Year Assessment Freeze
Posted: July 5, 2012 @ 6:30 am In Today's Local News
Recently, the state of Iowa was granted a one-year freeze in the No Child Left Behind Act standards by the US Department of Education. Washington Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen explains this freeze means the proficiency levels school districts are required to meet will remain at the same level as last year.
The levels come from the Iowa Assessment Testing where 80% of students in grades three through eight as well as eleventh are to meet grade-level standards in reading and math.
Dr. Jorgensen says the district is waiting to hear from the state to find out where the exact proficiency levels are and should know that information later this month.
