The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Drive held in Kalona earlier this week was a success. The drive held by the Kalona Optimist Club at Kalona Mennonite Church had a goal of collecting 54 units. The drive surpassed that figure and received 67 units. Christine Heyd with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center shares this time of year is challenging for the Center, as the amount of donations tend to slow down during the summer months.
