The Iowa Economic Development Authority board has awarded tax benefits to a company coming to Keokuk County. Responsible Transportation is purchasing and renovating a meat processing facility in Sigourney that’s been closed for several years. The project is expected to create 27 new jobs.

The new company will process horse meat to be used for food for zoo animals and for pet treats.

Responsible Transportation is receiving more than 170,000 dollars in tax credits through the Enterprise Zone program.
