Iowa’s No Child Left Behind Waiver Request Denied

The State of Iowa’s No Child Left Behind waiver request has been turned down.
Superintendent of Mid-Prairie and Keota schools, Mark Schneider shares that he’s not surprised by the decision, because Iowa does not satisfy requirements for the waiver. A teacher evaluation system needs to be enacted that allows teachers and principals to be put into three different categories; not effective, effective or highly effective.
The waiver would have exempted Iowa from key provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act. To date 19 states have been granted the waiver.
