Disease Spreading in Iowa but Not Locally
Posted: May 28, 2012 @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News
The warm winter and spring has helped a virus to spread across Iowa. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health says Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a virus that is more common in children where the symptoms start with a fever before leading to sores in the mouth followed by a rash on the hands and feet.
She says there are no recommendations to keep children home if they should have the virus and the best way to not spread the virus is by proper hand washing. Fisher notes there are currently no cases of this disease in Washington County.
