Severe weather over the weekend caused some minor damage in the Keokuk County town of Hedrick.  Around 9:15 Saturday evening, emergency crews in Hedrick reported a tornado on the ground.  The town with a population of over 800 saw some damage to homes on the south and eastern part of the community with uprooted trees and minor roof damage to homes.

Fire Chief Steve Copeland tells KCII news that during the height of the storm power was knocked out forcing fire personnel to alert citizens of danger using their fire sirens.  He says that no injuries were reported.

The storm also caused school officials in the Pekin School District to cut their prom short.  Chief Copeland says power was lost to the building prompting the need for the early ending to the evening.
