Severe Weather Awareness Week, Weather Radios and Shelter

KCII is continuing our look at different areas related to Severe Weather Awareness Week by working with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities and today we will be discussing weather radios and shelters.  So far this week we have discussed flash flooding, warning reception and what all of us here at KCII do during a severe weather event.  Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith says having a weather radio is important because it can let you know of an impending storm.

In terms of shelters, Smith lists the best locations.
