The early end of winter is leading to an early start on road construction and repair projects. County Engineer Jacob Thorius says one of their contractors  already started to work on Monday. He tells us they have done a few minor projects, but they are looking at next week before they start to really tackle bigger projects themselves.

As far as money saved, the department has saved some money from overtime payments, but Thorius says they have done some brush cutting and other projects that normally don’t get done at this time of the year.

The funds have been shifted around, but overall there wasn’t a savings that will make a big impact.
