The National Weather Service’s Quad Cities office has announced a storm spotter training class is coming to Washington next month. Donna Dubberke, Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the National Weather Service says their network of storm spotters consist of private citizens, first responders, and amateur radio operators.
She says everyone coming will learn about storm structure, spotter positioning, safety and damage reporting. Dubberke adds the course is geared toward emergency personnel, but is open to the general public.
The class is free and is being held Wednesday, March 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Washington Public Library.
