Dept. of Education Looks at No Child Left Behind Waiver

The Iowa Department will release information on its waiver request for the No Child Left Behind Program today. Mid-Prairie and Keota Superintendent Mark Schneider says they hope to change how they report competency levels to the federal government. Currently, Iowa’s competency level for reading and math is the 41st percentile.

Don’t Feed the Turkeys, Says DNR

The DNR is asking people to not feed wild turkeys. The statement comes after a flock of turkeys took up residence in Clear Lake due to being fed by the towns residents. Bill Ohde with the DNR Office in Brighton says turkeys aren’t dangerous; they just shouldn’t be fed because they will get used to humans and lose their natural instincts.

IMS Senoir to Present Piano Recital

IMS Senior Sam Swartzendruber will present a piano recital at the school on Saturday. He will be performing piano pieces from various composers, but he will also be presenting some guitar and vocal pieces with the help of his friends and family.
