Highland Girls Out Defend IMS; IMS Boys Fly By Highland

Points were at a premium last night at IMS as the Highland girls posted a 41-27 Southeast Iowa Super Conference Road win. Highland led 9-5 after one quarter and both teams combined for just seven points in the second quarter, which saw IMS go without a field goal in the 8 minutes with Highland leading 14-7. The second half saw both offenses get more on track, the Huskies spurred their offense by forcing 20 IMS turnovers on the night. The Huskies were led by 11 points from Kelsey Doreo and 10 from Breanne Hall. IMS was paced by 12 from Olivia Yutzy including a 3rd quarter stretch of eight straight.

The IMS Boys used fast break points to speed by Highland last night 73-47 in a home Southeast Iowa Superconference match up. Both teams started hot offensively, as IMS ended the first frame with just a 22-17 lead. Iowa Mennonite School would stretch things out in the second with an 18-5 run that lasted the entire period taking a 40-22 lead into the break. In the second half it was more of the same as the uptempo IMS offense used turnovers and quick baskets to build a lead of as many as 30. Highland was led by 15 points from Jesse Kloepher. Four IMS players reached double figures led by Johnny Lackender with 16, Peyton Thompson had 14, Brian Hagedorn ended with 13 and Cameron Gingerich had 11.
