The Washington County Board of Supervisors have approved a designation of a Quad-City Foreign Trade Zone service area.  During their meeting yesterday morning, Ed Raber with the Washington Economic Development Group shared that both the Quad City Airport and Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids are working with the Federal Government on this trade service agreement.  He says this free agreement has tax advantages for companies not located in the US.

Raber says this tax would be postponed for raw materials or partially finished products that are brought into the country as a completed product.  The Supervisors also approved a bid letting date for two secondary roads projects.

County Engineer Jacob Thorius says this will be for 140th Street to Riverside Road and 170th Street from Highway 1 to Orange Avenue.  The bids are due by 9:00 on March 6th and will be awarded during that day’s Board of Supervisors meeting.  These projects will be done over the summer.
