Governor Terry Branstad unveiled his final education recommendations recently and Washington Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says the proposal is similar to what was revealed last summer. He says the exception is a four-tiered pay scale and automatic retention of third-graders who fail to meet the grade requirements. Dr. Jorgensen says he is concerned about the proposal of the requirement of a 3.0 grade point average an educator must have. He says candidates for teaching licensures passing a test that demonstrates teaching knowledge is more important. Dr. Jorgensen says overall he is pleased with the proposals from Governor Branstad.
