Start a Business Month Bill Proposal Introduced
Posted: January 19, 2012 @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News
Iowa’s Secretary of State recently proposed legislation that would create an “Iowa Startup a Business Month.” As part of this proposal, Secretary Matt Schultz says his office would be able to reduce or waive any fees needed to organize a start-up business in the state. Washington Economic Development Group Director Ed Raber says the fee being waived is helpful, but to have a successful business startup takes more work.
He says to talk to a lender, attorney, a CPA, a representative from a Development Group or Chamber of Commerce, and other business colleagues and figure out if you have a good business idea. Raber adds he is not sure how far this will advance in the legislature but hopes people don’t rush into starting a business or wait six months to incorporate a business because of this proposal.
He says this proposal highlights the importance of Iowans starting businesses and taking some risk but to do that wisely.
