After Thursday’s snowfall, Washington City Hall wants to remind residents about their snow removal ordinance.  Washington Building and Zoning Administrator Steve Donnelly says the owner of the property has no more than 24 hours to remove it after snow or ice has stopped falling.  He says if it is not possible for the snow to be removed because it is frozen, property owners are to put down salt or ice to prevent the sidewalk from being slippery.

Donnelly says if this policy is not followed, the city will give the owner a two day time frame to remove the snow or ice.  He says after the two days, the city will remove the snow or ice and monetary damages will be charged to their property taxes.

To see the full snow removal ordinance, look at Section 53 of this link [1].
