Washington County’s Unemployment Rate Increases Last Month

November’s unemployment figures have been released by the Iowa Workforce Development and Washington County’s rate edged up slightly month.  The rate in the County rose to 4.4%, just one-tenth of a percent higher than October.  Washington County has almost 12,000 people in the workforce.

Across all of southeast Iowa, unemployment rates averaged four-tenths of a percent lower.  The lowest decrease in unemployment was in Johnson County and Louisa County had the highest increase.

Iowa’s unemployment dropped to five point seven percent, still three percent lower than the national figure.
