At 9:29 this morning, the Washington County Safety Center received several reports of a house fire in Washington.
The house of Rachel Zabel and her three children is located at 625 10th Street in Washington. The fire appears to have started in a bedroom. Fire Chief Tom Wide says the house suffered considerable smoke and water damage. He adds they will conduct an investigation after all of the hot spots have been put out.
The house located just to the south suffered minimal damage from the heat of the fire. The Washington Fire Department, Ainsworth Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance and Alliant Energy and Washington Police responded to the scene. Washington is taking financial donations for the family and the First Christian Church is accepting clothing donations:
