City Administrator Mark Baker says the city of Wellman is applying for a community development grant of 500,000 dollars for improvements to the city’s water treatment plant. After a public hearing on the issue, the city council voted unanimously to approve the grant application.

This grant is another in a series of grants aimed at improving the city’s water systems. Baker says that the grant would pay for 80 percent of the projected cost of the facility.
