It’s playoff football night tonight as the second season begins. The Washington Demons are making the trip to LaPorte City to face Union. The Demons qualified for the postseason with a 21-14 win over Williamsburg, which led to the Demons finishing as the third seed out of District 6 and Williamsburg the fourth seed. The Demons face Union who makes their fourth consecutive trip to the postseason and third time hosting an opening round game. The Knights have two losses one to district champ Maquoketa and the other came to district school Central DeWitt. They have a menacing running back in Wes Burnside who has rushed for 1252 yards averages 8 yards per carry and has scored 23 touchdowns. The Demons are wrestling with a couple of key injuries. Nate Kubik a player on the offensive and defensive lines injured a knee against Williamsburg. Also wide receiver and safety Brock Kimball is questionable. Demon Head Coach Randy Schrader says those injuries and the Union running back are their biggest concerns right now, but his biggest comfort is that he feels his kids believe in themselves.
