It was another strong early start for the Demon football team as they got their second straight win. In a game heard on KCII, Washington was at Mount Vernon and the Demons Parker Turner returned the opening kickoff to the Mount Vernon 24 yard line. On the first play from the line of scrimmage, Jake Redlinger took it up the middle and scored to make 7-0. The Mustangs would drive just past mid field, but the Demon stopped them on a fourth down. Washington drove down to the Mount Vernon 12 when Jake Redlinger threw a jump ball for Brock Kimball to put Washington up 14-0. The Demons next drive, Running Back Parker Turner went up the middle and as he went into a pack of Mustangs the ball came loose and Mount Vernon recovered in Demon territory. The Mustangs would score a turnover off the turnover to make it 14-6, but on the ensuing kick off, Parker Turner returned it to the Mount Vernon 41 which set up another Demon touchdown drive to put Washington 20-6 midway through the second quarter.
Neither team would score in third, and late in that quarter Mount Vernon quarterback Jacob Timm was hurt returning a punt. Backup Logan Walker led the Mustangs down the field and a big run from Marshall Tuerler set up a touchdown and all of a sudden it was a one possession game 20-12 in the fourth. Washington answered the call with another touchdown drive to go up 27-12 and that would be the final. With the win the Demons are now 3-3 and 2-2 in district play. Mount Vernon is 1-5 and 1-3 in the district. Washington will host South Tama Friday for homecoming.
