The Washington Demons put their best half of football together in a dominating Homecoming win over South Tama. In a game heard on KCII, South Tama looked like they got the early momentum when they recovered an on side kick to open the game, but on the first play from the line of scrimmage their running back fumbled and the Demons recovered. Washington started at mid-field and drove down to the twelve, when quarterback Jake Redlinger took in for the game’s first touchdown. It was the first of three on the night for Redlinger.
Washington held South Tama to a punt and an 80-yard Parker Turner return for a touchdown was called back by a penalty. The Demons would score a touchdown on the drive with a thirty yard touchdown pass from Jake Redlinger to Brock Kimball.
The next touchdown was set up by a defensive tackle interception as the Demons Nate Kubik picked off a screen pass. Washington was up 21-0 and would go up 40-0 at halftime.
South Tama put up 20 points in the second half but all but one touchdown came on the Demons JV defense. Because of low numbers for South Tama, there won’t be a JV game Monday and that also is likely why they kept their starters in the whole game last night. Washington won 47-20, with the win the Demons are now 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the district. South Tama falls to 1-4 in the district. The Demons next head on the road to face the defending state champs the Solon Spartans.
