The Washington Community School District is receiving a grant to add trees to sports complexes. The $3,000 grant is coming from the Department of Natural Resources as part of their “Trees for Kids” program. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says the grant will be used to plant 30 shade trees on the new soccer and softball complex located south of the new high school.
Assisting with a $700 match in the grant is the Washington Betterment Foundation. Dr. Jorgensen says the district is working with Egli Landscaping and the planting will be held at 8:30 am on October 24th with DNR Consultant Laura Wagner present at the planting.
