Keokuk County Honors Fallen Deputy with New Memorial
Posted: September 24, 2011 @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News
Members of the Keokuk and Mahaska County Sheriff’s offices took time to honor a fallen deputy this week. Keokuk County Sheriff Jeff Shipley says one way to remember Sergeant Eric Stein was to construct a memorial at the Sheriff’s office.
He says a remembrance plaque was fixed to a rock that had been plowed up by Stein’s father years ago that Stein would spend hours playing on. The rock was placed near the entrance to the Keokuk County Sheriff’s office in Sigourney.
Also in attendance were Mahaska County Sheriff Paul DeGeest and members of his department.
