Winfield to Celebrate Crooked Creek Days
Posted: August 3, 2011 @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News
Even though most area towns have hosted summer festivals already, one area community will be celebrating this weekend. The Crooked Creek Days are Winfield’s way of honoring its residents. Organizer Sharon Jennings says there are a few additions to this year’s edition of the Crooked Creek Days.
She says a group of residents have spent a considerable amount of time restoring a plane that landed in the area 100 years ago, which will be featured in the parade.
The Crooked Creek Days begin with the annual Cardboard Boat Races Friday night, followed by a number of popular events Saturday. Residents can participate in the fun run Saturday morning at 7:00. They can also enjoy the Bill Riley Talent Show at 8:30, followed by the parade at 10:30.
Jennings says food won’t be hard to find as well, as food will be provided by a number of local cooks and also by the Henry County Cattlemen’s Association.
The Crooked Creek Days conclude with a special church service Sunday morning for the entire community.
