The city of Wellman has awarded businesses in the town grant money for improvements.  City Clerk Donna Wade says the city sets aside $15,000 for those improvements, and this year the Washington County Riverboat Foundation matched that amount.

Wade says that $30,000 has been awarded to five businesses as of Monday’s city council meeting.

She says a remaining amount of $3,600 of funds was approved at the meeting to be given to Wellman auto dealer Tom Buckwalter for improvements to his property.
