Washington County Hospital and Clinics says a new study of 2010 figures shows that they have provided almost $1.5 million in free and discounted benefits. Foundation and Marketing Director Kathleen Brinning says those services were specifically put into service to help Washington County residents. She says the community benefits include programs such as health screenings, support groups, counseling, immunizations, nutritional services and transportation programs.
Washington County Hospital and Clinics CEO Dennis Hunger says while they have a responsibility to help out in the area of charitable giving, there are agencies available to help in offsetting the costs of the services. The Iowa Hospital Association completed the survey which shows more than $1.3 billion in community benefits being provided last year.
All of Iowa’s 118 community hospitals participated in the survey.
