Kalona Sees Progress Toward FEMA Mapping

Posted By News On @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled

Kalona city officials have received some long-awaited feedback concerning a flood plan for the town. City Administrator Ryan Schlaubaugh says the news means a step in the right direction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, despite not hearing any news on mapping the area.

He says the agency has been studying a levee near Kalona, which could lead to a more definitive flood plan.

Congressman Dave Loebsack says he supports FEMA mapping of the area, and recently called for a national flood center to be located in southeast Iowa.
