Washington students are getting ready to hit the books for another school year.  Starting Thursday, all students in the Washington Community School District begin classes.  The new school calendar approved at the March School Board meeting shows 18 days of early dismissals and five full days for professional staff development.

The early dismissals will happen every other Wednesday and the full days happening at various times throughout the school year.  The district will be in session for a total of 178 days with the school year ending Friday, May 25th depending on any weather cancellations.  Start dates for all schools in the area follow:

St. James – Thursday, 08/25

Highland – Tuesday, August 23

Mid-Prairie – Monday, August 29

Keota – Wednesday, August 24

WACO – Monday, August 22

Lone Tree – Monday, August 22

Sigourney – Wednesday, August 24

Winfield-Mt. Union – Monday, August 22

Pekin – Wednesday,  August 24

English Valleys – Tuesday, August 23

Wapello – Thursday, August 25
