Bicycle Accident in Louisa County Prompts Safety Reminders
Posted: August 19, 2011 @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News
A bicycle accident in Louisa County has sent one person to the hospital. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 29 year old Jason Iverson of Muscatine was traveling southbound on F Avenue south of 180th Street when he was struck from behind by 37 year old Joshua Fankhauser also of Muscatine.
Iverson was thrown from the bicycle and came to rest in the roadway. The accident which remains under investigation is prompting Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman to remind drivers to use extra caution around all two-wheeled vehicles.
He says bikers can also do their part to stay safe. Goodman says while there is no helmet law on the books in Iowa, or in Washington, everyone who rides a bicycle or motorcycle should wear one as an additional level of protection.
