Several Washington County residents are taking part in the year’s RAGBRAI event.  Mark Beatty, part of the Spokesbusters says they have 27 members riding in the event which starts at the Missouri River on Sunday and will end at the Mississippi River on Saturday.  He says because of the flooding along the Missouri River, no one was able to “dip their tires” in the river at the start of the ride.

Beatty says the major challenges of the ride this year have been the humidity, staying hydrated and beating the afternoon heat.  Beatty says he is sharing the ride with his two daughters and is planning on riding to the end of the ride in Davenport.
