Keokuk County Sheriff Arrested and Issued OWI

(Matt Nelson/SourceMedia Group News)Officials with the Iowa State Patrol say Keokuk County Sheriff Jeff Shipley was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Police say Shipley was driving a vehicle with a registration violation in Sigourney around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. The State Patrol reports the trooper who pulled Shipley over noticed the sheriff seemed to be intoxicated.
Shipley was taken to the Keokuk County Jail yesterday and was released on a promise to appear in court. The Washington County Attorney’s Office is handling the investigation of the case.
