The Washington County Conservation Board is preparing to host a hunter safety class next month.  Ranger Bob Bellmer at the Conservation Education Center in Marr Park says per Iowa law, anyone born after January 1, 1972 has to be certified in hunter education before they can buy an Iowa hunting license.

Anyone who is 11 years old and older can participate however, Bellmer adds, the certificate of completing is not valid until the youth hunter’s 12th birthday.  Bellmer says the three sessions are being held August 9th and 11th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday, August 13th from 8:00 to noon.

Attendance is required at all three sessions.  This is the only class being offered by the Washington County Conservation Board for the fall and pre-registration is required.  For more information, contact the Conservation Education Center at 319-657-2400 or Bob Bellmer at 319-461-0341.
