Louisa County Supervisors Decide to Demolish County Building
Posted: June 2, 2011 @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News
A building that once housed Louisa County’s Public Health Department will soon be no more. The county’s Board of Supervisors agreed at their meeting this week to plan the demolition of the annex building located just south of the old jail in Wapello. The building is now home to a food pantry, but the county’s Safety Committee has raised concerns about the quality of the building.
Supervisor Randy Griffin shared those concerns by saying the building needs to go away because of its mold problems, and foundation and structural issues. He says it’s a liability that needs to be done away with. The Board of Supervisors will schedule the building’s demolition for the next fiscal year when more funding is available.
The food pantry will be relocated.
