Farmers Scramble to Restore Crops After Wet Week
Posted By News On @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
After a promising start to June weather-wise, area farmers are spending numerous hours in fields this week working to restore crops affected by moisture and standing water. Rob Stout, a grower in West Chester, says most of the standing water on his ground has subsided, but high moisture levels have washed away important applicators in the growth process, like nitrogen. He says he and other area farmers have been feverishly trying to prevent further losses.
Farmers will continue to restore applicator amounts to their proper levels, but Stout says the only guarantee of a good crop this year will come from a weather pattern bringing warm and sunny conditions.
