City Council Approves Business Remodel
Posted: June 2, 2011 @ 6:30 am In Today's Local News
The Washington City Council heard a presentation from Kevin O’Brien last night during their regular meeting. O’Brien is the owner of McDonalds in Washington and presented to the Council a temporary request of a construction entrance to the business from West Jefferson. He says he is refurbishing the restaurant to make it bigger and this entrance will facilitate the business to be open during the refurbishing.
The project is to begin Monday and will last no longer than 60 days. O’Brien says the cost of the project is approximately 900 thousand dollars.
The Council also voted to table the second reading of the ordinance to amend the City Code concerning the new water rates. Councilor Bob Shepherd raised the question regarding the water deposit fee for multi‑dwelling units in the city being charged one flat rate instead of a rate for each unit.
The Council will investigate the number of multi-dwelling units in the city and will provide an update during their next meeting.
