The cost of renting farmland in southeast Iowa is up from last year. That’s according to the annual Cash Rental Rate Survey conducted by Iowa State University. In 2010 the cost in this corner of the state was listed at 169-dollars per acre.
This year it jumped to 198-dollars per acre. The statewide average also went up this year to 214 dollars.
Gene Mohling from the ISU Extension says the average rental price in Washington County is $223 per acre. He says this figure is based on the Corn Suitability Rating (CSR) per acre.
The average CSR rating for the county is 81. To see the full report, click here [1].
