Washington School Board Discusses Finances
Posted: April 14, 2011 @ 6:28 am In Today's Local News
The Washington School Board met last night and talked about finances for the next school year. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says they approved a plan of $121,000 for the upgrading of technology. He says the funding for this technology will be funded through the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy and Special Education funds.
Dr. Jorgensen adds they agreed to an increase of 3.45% in the total package for the Washington Education Association and an increase of 3.15% for the Service Employees International Union. He says these increases will take effect in the next school year.
As part of next year’s approved budget, the district can spend up to $5000 on advertising and the board also approved the giving of two $250 stipends for the research of Washington School alumni to learn how many completed post-secondary education, those that are in professional studies and their occupations to see how well the alumni have succeeded after high school. Dr. Jorgensen says this research will be conducted over the summer.
