The third annual Demon Dash for Cash took place last weekend and event organizer Teri Hartzler says it was very successful. She says they created a 5K run and walk as a community building event as a way to raise funds for the Washington Schools. Hartzler says the funds from this year’s event will go toward the PE Departments at all of the Washington schools.
She says a wide variety of walkers and runners participated in the race. Hartzler says 275 people took part and they raised almost $14,000. She adds David Mitchell won in the men’s division, Shawn Loy won in the women’s division and Mitchell Driscoll won the 1K.
KCII’s Big Red Radio was at the event playing music during the registration and was used as the public address system as well. Hartzler notes the Demon Dash for Cash will be held each year. The winning times were David Mitchell with 19:48, Shawn Loy with 21:01 and Mitchell Driscoll with 6:42.
