The Washington County Board of Supervisors met yesterday morning and hear quarterly reports from different County departments.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Department says income was higher the first three months of this year because of the new carry gun permits.  Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says they have issued over 700 permits since the first of the year while he only issued 169 for all of last year.

County Recorder Jo Greiner says the five-year income average in her office is lower than normal.  She adds this decrease is similar to the national economy.

The Supervisors made acknowledgement of an animal confinement feeding operation expansion on 180th Street and a notice of withdrawal from the agricultural district by Janet Driscoll.  Washington County Engineer David Patterson says they approved a two year contract with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 234.

He says contracted employees will see a 30 cent per hour raise in July and a 34 cent per hour raise in July 2012.  He adds there was no change to insurance or benefits.

Patterson says he is going to continue with the 28E agreement with Keokuk County and will change his services from two to three days a week to two to three days a month after a new engineer is hired in Keokuk County.
