A former Highland Husky softball player has been recognized as the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Week. Ashlee Simon pitches for Coe College. Last week she went 5-0 in six appearances. She struck out 67 on the week and had at least nine in each game. She also pitched two shutouts. Simon also reached a career milestone. With her 654th career strikeout she moved into second on Coe’s all-time strikeout leader list and she is a junior. Simon pitched for Highland in their 07 state championship team, and 08 semifinal team.
