Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the next general signup period for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) which begins on March 14th. This is the second year for this general signup offered by the USDA. Secretary Vilsack says support for CRP has grown because of a strong backing from farmers, ranchers, conservationists, hunters, fishermen and other outdoor sports enthusiasts.
He says not only has CRP contributed to the national effort to improve water and air quality, it has preserved habitat for wildlife and prevented soil erosion by protecting the most sensitive areas including those prone to flash flooding and runoff. For more information, visit the link here .
