The United States Post Office recently had a busy day. Washington Post Master John Marshall says there was an increase in mail that went through the Washington Post Office on Monday. He says while he is unclear of the actual amount of mail processed everything did get processed smoothly. According to the Postal Service, they processed 177 billion pieces of mail nation wide last year and Monday was the busiest mailing day of this year.
