The Washington High School is participating in “one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the nation” Saturday. The WHS Dance Marathon Committee asks local residents and businesses to donate in honor of the 17th year the University of Iowa Dance Marathon program has provided “emotional and financial support to pediatric cancer patients and their families” treated at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. The community is invited to attend a Jake McVey concert from 5 to 5:45 pm Saturday in the WHS Varsity Gym, followed by a talent show featuring high school students. A dance for 7th to 12th grade students will then take place from 7 to midnight. To make a donation, call the Washington High School at 653.2143.
