Iowa schools may be in danger of having to slash their budgets again. Iowa House Speaker Kraig Paulsen recently said that the Republicans will move to cut $300 million from the budget including in education. He says he’s not sure how they will deal with another reduction. Schneider says he would have to see what the legislature would eliminate. He says financing of schools have becoming highly categorical. Schneider says he’s assuming that when the legislature reduces funds they will have to do so from specific funds so the schools won’t have much option.
